This morning I found that 'Ateneum' - Finnish National Gallery - has been added
to Google Art Project:
Whilst browsing the site I came across this self portrait by Valle Rosenberg
(1891-1919), a Finnish artist that was totally unknown to me prior today. He did
die at the very young age of 28 of tuberculosis, but still... I guess his works
were not usually shown at the gallery in Helsinki, when I frequented it in the
1970s and 80s, and maybe his total output was not enough to be recorded in
the generic Finnish art history books.

Prompted by this fascinating portrait of a self-assured young man (above), I
went to the Finnish State Art Collection website to further research him:
