From The Poem of the Pillow

Michael Dunn in The Art of East Asia:

"Ranking surely as one of the most romantic and erotic pictures of all time, this
famous print was originally the frontispiece of a far more explicit series. While not
immediately discernible, Utamaro's genius can be seen in the amazing
composition of the focused eye of the gentleman and the line of his lady's hair."

Today's Walk - Banksia Season - and Suddenly a Knock on the Door

The photos above were taken whilst listening to my favourite podcast: On Point,
by Tom Ashbrook from WBUR, Boston. Mr Ashbrook was having a lovely chat with
an Israeli writer/fabulist Etgar Keret, whose collection of short stories, Suddenly a
Knock on the Door, has recently been published in the States in English. I was so
taken by the personality of Mr Keret, and the snippets of the audio version of the
book narrated by Miranda July, Ira Glass, etc. that I just ordered the book.
