Spotting

Our Madagascar Palm (Pachypodium lamerei) has been there in the corner for over ten years. Sure, we've seen it growing slowly, but if you don't move things to a new spot every now and then (I often re-hang bits of my art collection for this very reason), you can become blind to your surroundings. Ten minutes ago I was walking past the plant, and because of this very time of day, the sun illuminated the spider's webs on it, catching my eye. But there was more; I had no idea about the richness of the colours and textures on the stem that my camera captured in the process of recording the web amongst the spikes:












See why it's called a 'palm', although it's actually a succulent:
