Slab Built Ceramic Bottle

.

Having started with pottery myself recently, I can now appreciate even more the
effort and skill that has gone into many of the pieces in my ceramics collection.
The description of the bottle below from the artist Laura B. Cooper:

"This hand built bottle was made with hundreds of paper thin stoneware and
porcelain slabs which gives the surface endless amounts of texture and variation.
It stands at 18" tall and is 6.5" wide at the base, and is primarily unglazed except
for a small accent of water blue at the top which brings out the richness of the
natural clay bodies. This piece was fired in a low cone 01 salt kiln, which is what
gives the bottle it's soft, earthy tones."
