I just managed to take a couple of photos of a Common Koel (Eudynamys
scolopacea), which is a large cuckoo, well-known by its distinctive call, but rarely
seen. In fact, I've only seen one female Koel before, and none of these male
ones. I was on my computer, and heard the song that is more common in the
early spring mornings, and went out to the garden with my camera, and there
it was:
