Cephalopods

.

I came across this fascinating video via Science Friday podcast:

"When marine biologist Roger Hanlon captured the first scene in this video he
started screaming. Hanlon, senior scientist at the Marine Biological Laboratory in
Woods Hole, studies camouflage in cephalopods--squid, cuttlefish and octopus.
They are masters of optical illusion. These are some of Hanlon's top video picks
of sea creatures going in and out of hiding."

Stills from the video:

It was just a co-incidence that we had Calamari (a cephalopod) and Baitfish
as starters the day before in our local Italian restaurant:

  1. As much as I loved watching the octopus be a "rock" and then a "plant," I remain totally unapologetic about eating cephalopods.
