A found this cute Golden Crowned Snake (Cacophis squamulosus) in the pool
skimmer box this morning. I assume it tried to find relief in the pool yesterday
during our recorded hottest ever day in Sydney, and was flushed there. The
pool pump is not operating at night, which is this snake's usual time of activity,
so I don't think it got there then. Unfortunately it was dead this morning, when
A was clearing the box. I've been really keen to photograph live snakes for a
long time, but haven't come across any for a long time, at least when I've had
my camera along.
