Here's a meal for you: three course Turkey Pie dinner by

Pieter Claesz

Still Life with Turkey Pie

A large turkey pie is the most eye-catching part of this richly decked table. The
pie is crowned with a real, dead turkey. Pieter Claesz painted this still life in 1627.
He put his initials on the handle of the knife: 'PC A[nn]o 1627'. In the
seventeenth century a painting like this with attractive kitchen utensils and exotic
delicatessen was called a 'banketgen', or banquet painting. Such a showpiece was
made to hang in the house of a prosperous citizen.

1627. Artist. Pieter Claesz. Technique. Oil on panel. Dimensions. 75 x 132 cm. Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam.
